MY CLASSES
I am offering group classes, private sessions and pre- and postnatal classes for all ages and levels in the Ealing area as well Hanwell, Acton, Chiswick and Hammersmith.
My classes have derived from a diverse background in dance, pilates and yoga.
When teaching, I like to pass on the experience I have gathered as a professional dancer. Coming from a dance background I enjoy dynamic fluent moves in my own practice which I draw on for my teaching. Both my Pilates and Yoga training inform, affect and feed into each other. Yet I like to clearly differentiate between them unless I choose to mix them.
My style of Hatha yoga has been influenced by various traditions such as Iyengar, Sivananda, Asthanga Vinyasa, Dynamic and Yin/Yang. I now teach a flowing class, but I am responsive to change to support the student's needs. I like to experiment with a variety of themes, sequences and postures to create a mindful but also fun practice.
I place an emphasis on coordination, movement quality, balance, breath awareness as well as stress management and relaxation. I like students to deepen their practice and understanding to improve their physical health as well as mental and spiritual wellbeing.
Hatha Flow Yoga
Movements are connected with the breath keeping the practice flowing and alive.
Each pose flows into the next creating a dynamic, fluent sequence. The class might follow a
theme or is specifically attuned to the needs of the students. The practice comprises limbers,
sun salutations, standing poses, seated poses, inversions and relaxation.
Pilates Yoga Fusion
Combines both Pilates and Yoga techniques to tone, strengthen and revitalise the body as well as to relax the mind.
Mother & Baby class
This class can be a great way of returning to exercise after having done pregnancy Pilates and/or Yoga or starting afresh after having your baby. Bringing your baby with you, the class will incorporate exercises that will help your postnatal body recover, strengthen and tone, exercises and massage for your baby as well as purposeful appropriate lifting, carrying, playing, relaxing etc with your baby. The class is suitable for babies from 6 weeks up to crawling.

Here are some of my students comments:
I love Katja's classes. There is no sense of worrying about what other members of the class can do, no egotism or
competitiveness. The focus is always on listening to your own body and doing what is right for you.
Katja also offers advice to all members of the class with great spirit of thoughtfulness and care.
The class challenges in just the right measure. Fantastic

I've been doing yoga on and off since my teens so after almost 20 years I am quite fussy with my teachers!
Luckily for me I have found Katja! I’ve always found Katja to be an intuitive, gentle and inspired teacher
whose classes are varied and challenging week after week. I enjoy the fluid nature of the class,
Katja is able to work with people of many different levels in the same class, her descriptions and
corrections are clear and concise, and she obviously thinks about what she is going to teach us
beforehand which makes each class compelling. Thanks Katja!

I've been attending Katjas Yoga classes since October 2008. I really look forward to them after a stressful week.
Katja is a great teacher and always makes time to help us students individually.
I can highly recommend her classes for both new and experienced Yoga practitioners.
